So, what is Invisalign®?
Benefits of Invisalign®
One of the biggest advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners are nearly invisible, making them a popular choice for people who want to straighten their teeth without the noticeable appearance of traditional metal braces. The aligners are also removable, which means that patients can eat, brush, and floss normally without any dietary restrictions or difficulties with oral hygiene.
Another advantage of Invisalign is that the treatment typically takes less time than traditional braces, with most patients completing their treatment in 12-18 months. Additionally, Invisalign requires fewer office visits than traditional braces, which can be a convenient option for busy individuals who have difficulty scheduling frequent appointments.
Invisalign is also a comfortable and safe treatment option, with no metal wires or brackets to irritate the soft tissues of the mouth. The aligners are made of smooth, comfortable plastic that gradually shifts the teeth into the desired position without causing discomfort or pain.
Is invisalign® right for you?
However, it’s important to note that Invisalign may not be suitable for all orthodontic cases. Patients with more severe alignment issues may require traditional braces or other orthodontic treatments. Additionally, Invisalign requires a certain level of compliance and responsibility from the patient, as the aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours per day in order to be effective.
Overall, Invisalign is a popular and effective treatment option for individuals looking to straighten their teeth and improve their bite alignment in a discreet and convenient way. If you’re interested in Invisalign or any other orthodontic treatments, be sure to talk to your dentist or orthodontist to see if it’s right for you!
What is the process for invisalign®
Consultation: Invisalign treatment usually begins with an initial consultation with an orthodontist or dentist who is trained in Invisalign. During the consultation, your doctor will evaluate your teeth and determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment. They may also take X-rays and impressions of your teeth to create a 3D image of your mouth.
Receiving your aligners: Once your treatment plan is created, you will receive a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners. The aligners are designed to gradually shift your teeth into the desired position over a period of several months. You will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before switching to the next set in the series.
Attachments: During treatment, your orthodontist or dentist may also place small attachments on your teeth to help the aligners grip your teeth more effectively. These attachments are tooth-colored and usually not very noticeable.
Interproximal reduction: In some cases, your doctor may also recommend interproximal reduction (IPR), which involves gently removing a small amount of tooth enamel to create more space for your teeth to move into. This is done in a way that is safe and minimally invasive.
6-8 week check-ups: Throughout your treatment, you will have regular check-ups with your orthodontist or dentist to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. You should wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss.
Retainers: Once your treatment is complete, you will likely be given a retainer to wear at night to help maintain your new smile.
